Under Hwy 99 believes that everybody has stories. Whether they get scrawled out on tattered notebooks or stay buried quietly within our minds, we suspect that most of these tales will remain untold. Our editors want to give them a chance to be enjoyed by others. We’re seeking to publish thoughtful, provocative, creative works of fiction and non-fiction. Please click “Submissions” for more details.

“The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to make sense.”

-Tom Clancy

What’s it all about?

You’ve just stumbled upon a “labor of love” independent literary magazine in its infancy.  Our reasons for undertaking a project so substantial are borne out of passion - of wanting to create a niche for other dedicated writers who aren’t looking for fame or for riches (okay, so you might not object to that windfall, but you’d still be scribbling away like each word was your last, one way or another).  In short, this is a publication for people who like a good read, as well as for those who have an undying devotion to and special knack for writing.

We are actively seeking your finest works of fiction and non-fiction for our upcoming issues.  Please do not submit rough or unedited copies.  Send your word (.doc) attachment to:

fiction@underhwy99.com

OR

non-fiction@underhwy99.com

Of course, remember to include your name, address, telephone number, and email address where you can be reached at.  In two or three short sentences, tell us something about yourself or include a brief author’s bio (less than 50 words, please). All submissions must be double-spaced, 12-point font, and limited to approximately 3,500 words.  Please send multiple pieces as separate attachments Simultaneous submissions are fine, but do let us know immediately if your piece has been accepted elsewhere.  Authors retain all rights to online and printed material.  As a free publication, Under Hwy 99 regrettably cannot pay authors for their work, other than in the currency of publication and readership by those who value talent, quality, and creativity.  However, contributors will receive a complementary copy.

Thank you for supporting your literary gene!
